The decisions were taken at the 348th Board meeting held on Monday. Additionally, the Board has also resolved to take up infrastructure development works at various industrial estates amounting to Rs 4 crore.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, Chief General Manager Prakash Gurav said, “We had invited tenders for infrastructure works in various industrial estates. They have been accepted by the Board with certain changes. It was also decided to go ahead with the infrastructure works for Latambarcem industrial estate spread on an area of 3.4 lakh square mts at an urgent pace and allot the plots. The land acquisition is in the final stages. We have made about 30 plots. First, the work of the compound wall as well as roads will be taken up, followed by electrification and water works.”
The Board has also resolved to construct an additional road for Kundaim industrial estate through Bhoma. Additionally, the Board will also take up feasibility study for underground cabling in all the industrial estates
The common effluent treatment plant to be set up in Cuncolim industrial estate will be taken up through a central scheme.
“Every industry has got its own effluent treatment plant. In Cuncolim there nearly five fish processing units, which due to the extra load on their plants, were not matching up with the environmental issues. Local MLA as well as locals had complaints about it. There is a Central scheme to set up a common plant for smaller units which cannot afford to have their own plants. The Centre will bear 50 per of the capital cost of the project, 25 per cent will be borne by the State Government and the remaining will be raised by the stakeholders. GSPCB has directed us to go ahead with the project. We have gone for DPR study and 15 lakh will be borne by the State Government”, informed Gurav.
