The Assagao Panchayat will meet to elect a new deputy sarpanch on Thursday.
The election to the post was necessitated after Hanuman Naik resigned as the deputy sarpanch recently.
As per an understanding among the panchas, the posts of sarpanch and deputy are being rotated among the ruling group members after completion of a certain term.
In the seven-member Assagao Panchayat, Priyanka Sangelkar is the sarpanch.
