Sirsaim youth dies in accident

A 24-year-old scooterist from Sirsaim died, while the pillion rider was grievously injured after they were knocked down by a goods carrier near Mahindra showroom at Porvorim.
The goods carrier driver from Udaipur-Rajasthan was arrested in this connection.
According to Porvorim Police, Sheilesh Salgaonker along with pillion rider Abdul Zafar was proceeding to Panaji on his Activa scooter (GA-03-AC-5638) when he was knocked down by a goods carrier (RJ-27-GB-9403), which was travelling towards Mapusa at about 11.15 pm on Wednesday.
The rider Salgaonker died on the spot, while the pillion rider Zafar (20) who had sustained grievous injuries was admitted to GMC Hospital at Bambolim for medical treatment.
Porvorim Police registered the offence under Sections 279, 337, 304 - A of Indian Penal Code and arrested the driver Bhavarlal Kalaji Meena (36) for rash and negligent driving. He was produced before the court who remanded him to seven days police custody. PSI Vilesh Durbhatkar is investigating the case.
