PERNEM

The Tenants and Mundkar Association of Pernem warned the BJP that both their candidates for the Lok Sabha election would will be defeated if the government did not solve the pending issues of tenants and mundkars.

This warning was issued at a meeting of the association held on Saturday at Pernem and attended by a large number of tenants and mundkars with affiliation to different political parties.

The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Daniel D’Souza.

At the outset, D’Souza alleged that the BJP and their ministers were simply fooling people and that nobody could expect justice from this government.

“This government is of landowners (bhatkars) and people from the Bahujan Samaj and poor are forced to go to court for their legitimate rights. The time has come to teach a lesson to this falsehood government and it’s ministers and the upcoming Lok Sabha elections are the best opportunity for this,” declared D’Souza.

Member of MGP and president of Shivolim Citizen Committee Amrut Agarwadekar said that if the people of Pernem would not get any benefits from Mopa airport, then they should stand behind the Tenants and Mundkar Association and jointly raise their voice.

“Two families from the Bahujan Samaj were made homeless by this government which is a shameless act. The MGP was a party of the Bahujan, but now because of money and power this party has lost it’s past glory,” he alleged.

Goa Surasksha Manch Pernem President Atmaram Gaokar alleged that the BJP has done injustice to the tenants and mundkars and as a result the number of party seats were reduced from 21 to 13 in the last Assembly election.

Office bearer of Aam Admi Party Pradeep Ghadi Amonkar pledged full support to the cause of tenants and mundkars.

President of Pernem Taluka Bhandari Samaj and Pernem Block Congress President Umesh Talavanekar alleged that the Bahujan Samaj were still backward because of politicians like Shripad Naik.

“We consider him a strong leader of the Bahujan Samaj but he can’t fight for our cause,” Talavanekar said.

“On the eve of election, BJP is misguiding the people for their selfish gains,” stated former Shiv Sena (Goa) chief Ramesh Naik.

Five resolutions were passed at the meeting. One of these was to request the government to appoint a special mamlatdar for speedy disposal of mundkarial cases.
