Start-up policy likely in 2-3 months: CM

Underlining the need for a start-up policy to identify budding talent among Goan youth, CM Laxmikant Parsekar said that the State Government is likely to come up with a start-up policy within the next two-three months.

 He was speaking after inaugurating the state-of-the-art premises of IT Hub at Altinho. “EDC had recently organised a start-up competition wherein the participants, especially the youth, came up with sophisticated concepts. I would suggest that EDC organise such competitions at least twice a year. We are also planning to set up one start-up at Industries Department premise in Panjim and Government very well can finance the successful ones”, he said. Spread over an area of 3,530 square metres, the first floor of the building comprises of rooms which will house the offices of Goa Broadband Network, Independent Data Centre and State Data Centre. The second and third floors consist of areas for facilities pertaining to Directorate of Information Technology and Info-Tech Corporation of Goa Limited. The building also has a dedicated space on roof terrace for solar panels, mechanical utility services and other services.

Frog poachers will not be spared this monsoon

With some parts of the state witnessing heavy pre-monsoon showers, forest officials are bracing up for their annual exercise to crack a whip against frog poachers.

MARGAO:  Banners of the forest department have come up in the Margao SGPDA market, Navelim, Aquem-Baixo, Davorlim, besides the forest office at Aquem with a plea to the public to desist from catching or killing frogs to serve as meat. Poaching of frogs is an offence under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
