Goa on Wednesday highlighted the need for technology-driven reforms in agriculture, including the rollout of Farmer ID under the Agri-Stack initiative, during a virtual meeting of state agriculture ministers chaired by Union Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

Taking part in the meeting, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant stressed the importance of building a strong digital system for farmers to improve services and ensure government schemes reach the right people. The State said that initiatives like Farmer ID would help farmers get real-time support, while also allowing authorities to deliver benefits more efficiently. Goa also pointed out the need to support small and marginal farmers by ensuring timely access to inputs and fair market opportunities.

The meeting also discussed strengthening Zonal Conferences and improving cooperation among states to share knowledge and adopt best practices suited to local farming conditions.

Reaffirming its commitment to the Centre’s vision under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Goa said it aims to build a strong, farmer-focused and technology-driven agriculture system that supports sustainability, growth and long-term prosperity.
