In an effort to promote Goa as ‘Dakshin Kashi’, the State government on Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Temple Connect, an organisation dedicated to revival and development of the temple ecosystem, with an aim to boost Goa’s spiritual tourism.
Director of Department of Tourism Sunil Anchipaka and founder of Temple Connect Girish Kulkarni signed the MoU, in presence of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte and Tourism Secretary Sanjeev Ahuja.
Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte said that with the signing of the MoU, the state’s spiritual tourism will take off in a big way.
“This MoU will enhance the tourism potential by linking our temples to a global circuit giving worldwide exposure to the spiritual and cultural heritage of Goa,” Khaunte said.
He said this MoU was first of its kind which will help in digitisation, documentation and distribution of content regarding temple awareness, its heritage and Goa’s culture.
“The MoU will enable better connectivity and reach to visit the temples in Goa with spiritual tourism as the key focus along with a vision to promote devotional importance of Goa,” he said.
Temple Connect is a well-reached network of temples working in the spiritual ecosystem for nearly two decades and has close alliance with the temples in India and 57 other world locations.
The MoU in collaboration with the temples will help to create greater awareness of temple tourism circuits in Goa, aligning with the national spiritual corridor.
It will offer specialised training programmes and workshops for temple priests, guides, and other relevant personnel, with a focus on enhancing hospitality, communication skills and heritage conservation.
