Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Shantaram Naik sought that Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar be summoned for questioning in the case against BJP leader Hemant Golatkar who is charged of violating the Town and Country Planning Act as well as obstructing a government servant from performing
his duty.
Speaking at a press conference, Shantaram said that Golatkar’s claim that he has oral permission from the Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar for hill-cutting demanded that he too was involved in the probe.
“Although the Old Goa Police have registered an offence against Golatkar for obstructing a public servant while discharging his duties, which is a serious offence punishable with three years rigorous imprisonment, he has still not been arrested,” Shantaram said.
He also questioned why Golatkar was not booked for violating the Town and Country Planning Act which carries imprisonment up to one year and is a cognizable offence.
