Margao MLA Digambar Kamat, the patron of the ruling BJP-backed Margao Municipal Council, made his presence felt in the Civic body on Friday morning.
Though Kamat descended in the Municipal building to attend a conference of senior citizens in the Margao Municipal hall on Friday, the MLA later made his presence felt in the chamber of Margao civic body chief Damu Shirodkar.
Though the Chairperson later told the media that the Margao MLA just a paid a courtesy call during his visit to the MMC building, sources said Kamat took stock of the functioning of the civic body with the MMC chief.
In fact, Chairperson Shirodkar was seen discussed with Kamat over an issue as the Margao MLA was seen engrossed while going through some documents.
“The Margao MLA only paid a courtesy call during his visit to the building to attend the conference of senior citizens. There was no issue discussed with the MLA,” he said, when asked whether the Kamat had come to the Civic body to take stock of the situation in the light of various issues plaguing the city.
A couple of ruling BJP Councilors were also present in the chamber of the MMC Chairperson during Kamat’s visit.
This is the third time that the Margao MLA has made his presence felt in the civic body during his visit to the building.
Kamat had come to extend his wishes to Damu Shirodkar after his election to the hotly contested post on October 12 last year.
