South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar praised the contribution made by teachers towards education, pointing out that they have a major influence on students. He also said that the bonds established between teachers and students remains for life.
He was speaking at a function organised by Goa Multi Faculty College at Pilliem-Dharbandora, where Shikshak and Seva Bhushan awards were presented on the occasion.
Every year, the college recognises teachers and non-teaching staff members who have rendered outstanding service towards their educational institution.
Sanvordem MLA and Chairman of SSPES, Ganesh Gaonkar; Dilip Betkekar and SSPES Vice-President, Dr Manoj Kamat were among those present for the event.
“A teacher inspires and motivates the students, thereby moulding their future,” Sawaikar said.
Agreeing that teachers play a pivotal role in every individual’s life, Gaonkar said it is the responsibility of students to respect their teachers.
In his address, Dr Manoj Kamat praised the teaching and non-teaching fraternity, while Dilip Betkekar also spoke on the occasion.
On the occasion, the college website and college staff directory were released by Sawaikar and Betkekar. SSPES Secretary, Arun Bicholkar, later proposed the vote of thanks.
