The Benaulim MLA called media persons to Maina in Curtorim constituency to bring to their notice how the waste problem is lying unattended in Reginaldo’s constituency. “My in-laws place is in Curtorim. When I was returning from the village, I came across waste dumped along the roadside, which made me wonder why the Curtorim MLA did not clean up his turf first before pointing fingers at others,” Caitu said.
The Benaulim MLA advised his Curtorim counterpart not to play politics for the sake of playing. He said in Colva the waste problem was because of the thousands of tourists flocking the place, which was not the case in Curtorim. “I do not wish to blame Reginaldo for the waste dumping in Curtorim because there are authorities responsible for tackling the menace. But I would like to remind him that pointing fingers at others just to gain political mileage will not solve any problem,” he said.
Replying to a question, Caitu blamed the tourism department and Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar for the messy situation at Colva. “The Tourism Minister is unfit to manage the tourism department,” he said, while reiterating
his demand for the minister’s resignation.
