CM Pramod Sawant on Friday said three idle projects in Cortalim constituency would be put to use within six months.
Sawant was speaking to reporters after inspecting the market complex along with Cortalim MLA Anton Vas, Rehabilitation Board Chairman and MLA Rajesh Faldessai, Acting Sancoale Sarpanch Girish Pillai and others.
“Cortalim MLA Anton Vas had specially requested me to inspect major development projects that had been idle for a long time and I visited three major projects of Cortalim Market complex, Cansaulim Sports complex and finally this Zuarinagar Market complex.”
“It is sad that these development projects and infrastructure have been built over the years but have remained idle and not been put to public use for almost a decade.
The Zuarinagar Market complex was taken under rehabilitation board and almost built six years ago but has remained idle. The main issue was the rehabilitation board, GSUDA and MLAs were at different locations and the building remained idle,” said Sawant.
The CM said the Cortalim market complex is only being utilised to 20 percent of its capacity, while the other 80 percent is totally idle.
“We are also trying to work out a process and get that building into full use by taking panchayat in confidence. We have spent crores of rupees for construction of these projects and I feel it is approximately over Rs 20 crores spent to develop these three infrastructure projects,” said Sawant.
