Tiatrist chargesheeted in Moti Dongor murder

The Margao police on Monday chargesheeted tiatrist Anthony Fernandes for allegedly murdering his wife in the sensational Moti Dongor murder case.The police has cited around 30-odd witnesses in support of its case.

In the chargesheet, the police stated that on March 24 at around 3 pm at Moti Dongor on the second floor rented flat of Saraswati Niwas building, the accused on account of a sudden quarrel with his wife, 42-year old Fiona Fermina Fernandes, stabbed her with a kitchen knife and committed her murder.The police further stated that with the same kitchen knife, the accused chopped off her legs and further in the early hours of March 25 packed the dead body in a traveller bag. He took the same on a Honda Dio Scooter and dumped the body in the TB Hospital Complex property near the overhead water tank opposite Gate No 3, Monte Hill.The police further stated that the accused then set the body on fire with the purpose of destroying evidence of crime.Investigating Officer, Margao police station in-charge PI C L Patil, informed that the 30-odd witnesses cited by the court include the daughter and son-in-law of the accused.Sources at the Margao police station stated that the police have also submitted an exhibit showing the finger prints on the kitchen knife.The accused, who was arrested on March 25 noon by the Margao police, is presently in judicial custody and will complete three months in prison on June 25.
