Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Sunday said the focus of development should not shift from the construction of gutters and roads to human resource development, including training and self-employment.
“Goa has enough gutters and roads built in the last 60 years, so much so that these constructions have affected the underground water table. The time has now come to focus on human resources development,” he said, while asserting that his government is working to ensure that the fruits of development reach the last person in the society.
He added: “Today is Gandhi Jayant and Shashtri Jayanti. Gandhi had said that service to humanity is service to the nation. There’s no greater religion than serving humanity. The Godinho family had donated the premises for the old age home at Majorda around 150 years ago for those who had no shelter, irrespective of their religious backgrounds,” he said.
Saying his government is committed to taking the benefits of development to the last person in the community, irrespective of his caste and creed, the Chief Minister sought the cooperation of the sarpanchas and panchayat members to take the mission to its logical conclusion.
