PORVORIM

The Thane Janata Sahakari Bank (TJSB) has opened a Customer Service Centre (CSC) in Porvorim, which will help unemployed youth to start business ventures.
While inaugurating the CSC, Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte commended CSC proprietor Akhilesh Dessai for entering into a business venture by opening up the CSC of the TJSB Bank, thereby generating employment and setting examples for others.
“Government jobs are very few and so, youth should avail of government benefits and schemes to start their own business ventures instead of demanding government jobs,” said Khaunte.
Khaunte mentioned there are over 200 self-help groups and over 1,500 farmers in the Porvorim constituency.
“The bank should provide financial assistance to these people to enable them to earn their livelihood. The growth of the bank depends on the support of the people. Of late, some cooperative banks have lost their credibility due to their poor performance.”
“The very fact that TJSB has completed 50 years of its existence indicates its credibility. People should avail the benefits of its schemes and support the growth of the bank,” said Khaunte.
TJSB Bank MD Sunil Sathe said their bank has 136 branches in 5 states and since the Reserve Bank of India does not permit them to open more branches in Goa, they have come up with a new concept of a Customer Service Centre.
“Unemployed youth get an opportunity to start business ventures through our Customer Service Centre, while the bank can also expand its business. This is a win-win situation for both,” said Sathe.
TJSB Bank Chief General Manager Subbalakshmi Shirali also spoke on the occasion.
