PANAJI: The Tourism Department has sought action against the concerned officer in the Office of the North District Magistrate for allowing Saturday Night Market at Arpora despite not being granted permission.
Deputy Director of Tourism Dhiraj Vagle, on behalf of Director Nikhil Desai, has conveyed his utter disappointment for failing to stop the event. The department has directed to seek an action taken report from the District Collector on the event by January 2, 2023.“It was informed to your Office that this Department has not issued any permission for the said event nor the proponent approached us to seek permission for the same and therefore requested to revoke the permission issued to the said event, if any, and kindly issue necessary directives to the Police Inspector of the respective Police Station to stop the event as and when conducted,” reads the letter submitted to the North District Magistrate’s Office on Thursday.
“In this connection, the Government has taken a serious note of this matter and hence necessary responsibility may be fixed on the concerned officer who has failed to stop the event, despite the issue of the above mentioned letter by this Office. I am therefore directed to seek an action taken report on the above event which may be sent to this Office latest by January 2, 2023 to submit the same to the Government for information,” the letter further reads.
