Traffic cop faces NC case over row with home guard

A traffic police constable has been booked ina non-cognisable (NC) complaint by the Mandrem police following allegationsthat he verbally abused a home guard during a phone conversation over aduty-related dispute.

The action comes after an audio recording ofthe alleged conversation went viral within the department, bringing to light aheated exchange between the two personnel.

As per the complaint, the dispute arose afterthe home guard reportedly informed the traffic in-charge that the constable hadleft duty at the busy KTCL bus stand, Panaji, around 5.30 pm, nearly an hourbefore the scheduled end of his shift at 6.30 pm, leaving the home guard tomanage traffic alone.

In the viral audio, the constable is allegedlyheard abusing the home guard for reporting the matter to his superior andchallenging him to take further action. During the exchange, the home guardretaliated and alleged that the constable had continued to remain attached tothe Panaji Traffic Cell despite having been transferred to Calangute a coupleof years ago.

Mandrem Police registered a non-cognisablecomplaint following a complaint filed by the home guard.

PERNEM :  A woman was seriously injured after a stray cow collided with her scooter at Korgao in Pernem on Friday evening.  The accident occurred when Julia Kattamani was riding from Pernem to her home in Korgao. A cow suddenly wandered onto the road and collided with her scooter.  The impact threw Kattamani onto the road, leaving her with multiple injuries.  Passers-by rushed to help and shifted her to a hospital for treatment.
