A driver had a lucky escape when the goods carrier truck rammed into an electricity pole in Honda-Sattari on Monday and disrupted power supply and traffic in the area.
According to reports, a 14-wheeler truck was on its way to Belagavi when the vehicle rammed into an electricity pole in Honda. The mishap was such that electricity wires were dangling, but locals were quick to take precautionary measures and there were no casualties in the mishap.
The mishap led to disruption in power supply in the area, while traffic along the Goa-Belagavi road was also paralysed for some time.
Locals are upset over the failure of authorities to implement the collector’s ban on heavy traffic along the Goa-Belagavi road via Chorla Ghat.
They have claimed that heavy vehicles, which continue to travel along the route and pass via Honda to and from different parts of the State, have been involved in several mishaps.
They also complained that their demands for an increase in height of the existing electricity poles and replacement of old poles in the area have been ignored by authorities.
