Two held for theft in city

PANAJI: A case of theft was registered against Sonu Kumar (19) from Old Goa and Shashank Rathod (18) from Vasco under Section 374 of IPC read with Section 34 of IPC for theft of two mobile phones worth Rs 22,000 from a two-wheeler, parked near Inox theatre in Panaji.

The accused were caught by a group of students, when they returned to steal the cash from the scooter. The youngsters contacted the police, who arrived at the scene and arrested the accused.

After being arrested late Sunday night, the duo was produced before the JMFC, Panaji on Monday. Both the accused have been remanded to two-day police custody, following which they will be produced before JMFC on December 2.
