Two injured in accident at Dharbandora

PONDA: A truck driver and another occupant were seriously injured after their vehicle went off the road at Dharbandora on Thursday afternoon.

According to Ponda Police, the truck (GA-09-U-6125) was proceeding from Dharbandora towards Shivadem, when the driver lost control at a sharp turn near Dhurke and the vehicle went off the road.

The truck entered the nearby arecanut plantation and damaged a portion of a house, while many arecanut trees and other trees were also destroyed in the process.

Fire brigade personnel were summoned to rescue the trapped driver, Deepak Solyekar, and Prashant Shirodkar. “Before we could reach the site, the locals rescued the duo and shifted them to a hospital,” fire brigade official told The Goan.

Deepak and Prashant are undergoing treatment at Goa Medical College in Bambolim.

Sources informed that the plantation belongs to Damodar Vaze, who has suffered a huge loss. Ponda Police is investigating the case.
