After proposing to make Baina one of the model beaches in the State, Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar has now requested the tourism department to clean up and revive Kharewado beach.
Speaking to reporters during a joint inspection, Salkar said a joint inspection was conducted at Kharewado and Baina beaches along with officials of the tourism department.
"The joint inspection was primarily aimed to revive Kharewado beach and I have instructed that cleanliness, proper illumination and seating arrangements at the Kharewada beach needs to be taken up immediately.”
“Kharewado beach is presently very dirty and we have demanded a clean-up of the entire beach immediately, if not all then at least a part of it in the first phase. Tourism officials have seen the condition of Kharewado beach and they have agreed to take up work on top priority.”
“Similarly, the inspection at the Baina beach was taken up as this beach is to be made into a model beach in South Goa, as assured by Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte during his visit to Baina earlier," said Salkar.
GSIDC Vice Chairman Deepak Naik, Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) Chairperson Leo Rodrigues, Councillors Ramachandra Kamat, Vinod Kinlekar, former MMC chairpersons Kritesh Gaonkar, Lavina De Souza, Fiola Rego and Arnold Rego were also present during the inspection.
