Vehicles vandalised at sensitive Rumdamol housing board area

MARGAO

Incidents of damage to vehicles parked on open ground at the sensitive Rumdamol housing board came to light on Monday.

While the vehicle owners have lodged their complaint with the Maina Curtorim police station, Rumdamol panchayat member Umran Pathan has urged the cops to intensify patrolling in the housing board area to crack down on anti-social activities.

Pathan told the media that a group of persons from Margao and other areas come to the Housing Board and resort to anti-social activities, including drinking and loitering around late at night.

“As it is, amity and peace in the Rumdamol housing board was disturbed following last month’s incidents. We don’t want any such incidents to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere in the Housing Board area,” Pathan said.

He urged the police to nip the anti-social activities in the bud so that such incidents do not lead to further tension and law & order problems. “We have come across a group of persons from Margao and other areas loitering around in the Housing Board area late at night and indulging in anti-social activities,” he said, as he hoped the Maina Curtorim police would take cognisance of the complaint lodged by the vehicle owners and intensify patrolling in the Housing Board area.

Maina Curtorim police station in-charge, PI Arun Gawas Desai, informed that the police station received a complaint from the owners about the damage caused to their vehicles.

He said the police would investigate the matter with the help of intelligence, including CCTV footage, to zero in on the miscreants.
