OLD GOA
A decade ago the duo of Victoria and her son Rudolf Fernandes successfully fought against the inclusion of villages of St Cruz constituency in the PDA.
On Friday, the former St Cruz MLA and her son were back on the streets seeking the support of the people to gather in large numbers to oppose the inclusion of Santa Crus in the PDA.
The duo held a corner meeting at Indira Nagar-Chimbel on Friday night and urged the people to once again back their efforts in keeping St Cruz constituency out of the PDA.Speaking at the meeting, Rudolf demanded that if MLA Tony Fernandes really cares about the people, he should resign from the Greater Panaji PDA committee and also raise the issue in the forthcoming assembly to withdraw the notification. “Let there be an opinion poll on PDA in St Cruz. I will bear all expenses needed to conduct the poll,” Fernandes further thundered.
Fernandes then urged people to attend the public meeting at Santa Cruz church square, where a bigger meeting would be held on Sunday evening.
Former MLA Victoria said, “My son and I had successfully thwarted moves to include St Cruz in PDA with your support and once again, let us unitedly fight against the PDA which has been thrust upon us by a few greedy individuals,” Fernandes stated.
Elsa Dias said, “The panchayats were not informed nor was the issue discussed in the gram sabhas. Politicians and the builders are eyeing our land and our houses.”
