Residents of Colva and Seraulim have raised concerns over a shortage of drinking water for the past few days.
They said that water is either supplied with very low pressure or they have to stay up late at night to store water before the supply stops after dawn.
Residents added that they have been facing these difficulties for nearly a fortnight and demanded immediate restoration of water supply, especially for those living along the Colva–Seraulim border.
Benaulim MLA Venzy Viegas visited the area on Wednesday along with officials from the Water Supply Department to find a solution.
The MLA asked senior officials to prepare a note for Minister Phal Dessai, explaining how residents of Colva, Seraulim and nearby areas suffer whenever there is a disruption in supply from the Selaulim pipeline.
“The government should know that the coastal villages of Salcete generate significant revenue through taxes from tourism activities such as hotels and restaurants. People from these areas expect better facilities in return,” he said.
