Insisting that the BJP had not forced anyone to join the party, Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho on Tuesday said the MLAs were voluntarily resigning from their party to embrace the BJP.
He was reacting to queries regarding the resignations of Congress MLAs Subhash Shirodkar and Dayanand Sopte and their entry into the BJP on Tuesday, while inspecting the roundabout at Vales Junction in the presence of various officials from related departments.
“The BJP is prepared for all eventualities and has plans to do whatever it takes to ensure that a proper government is in place. The BJP is well prepared to streamline the functioning of the government machinery to solve the problems of people and to keep up with the fast pace of development,” said Godinho.
“Now, if some MLAs are joining the BJP and strengthening it further, then it is a good thing for the BJP and why should we grudge that? It is the MLAs who are voluntarily joining us after resigning from their party to embrace the BJP. It means that something good has been done by the BJP and they want to do something good for their constituency. We may have more MLAs joining soon,” Godinho added.
Stating that such a situation is bound to happen in a political party which is performing, the minister said people would also commend the government for delivering on its promises.
