Resorte Marinha Dourada at Arapora were the proud winners of National Tourism award for the best 2-star category hotel. It’s not a surprise at all for the hotel as it has won the same award six times in twenty years of its existence. The Goan caught up with the general manager of the resort, Edwin Dias to get into the groundwork that fetched them the prized catch. “Baga has become really crowded as a number of new hotels have come up there. We are very close to Baga and yet we offer peace. There are no buildings near our resort and we have two lakes inside our property, which makes us quite unique,” stated Dias.
These two lakes were actually salt-pans, which were converted into lakes after doing some dredging. Dias continued, “An Austrian company has also put up a fun-park at our resort, wherein visitors try to overcome obstacles, which also makes us very unique”. Most properties in and around Baga have no facility for tourists to indulge in such activities to spend their leisure time. Since, Resorte Marinha Dourada has a fun-park; it definitely give it a competitive edge.
Resorte Marinha Dourada has adopted a smart strategy of providing a lot of comfort to its clientele and yet at a reasonable price. It is a 206-room property. Huge room inventory helps it in charging a very affordable room-tariff. Asked what the likely room-tariff is for the upcoming October 2nd weekend, Dias said, “The tariff should be around Rs 3,500 per night”.
In nutshell, Resorte Marinha Dourada provides a very good experience in terms of accommodation, fun-park, lakes, peace and its natural surroundings in the form of Baga River, hillock and rice fields. There is no other alternative like this for tourists in that belt.
