After over a month-long break, the hustle and bustle finally returned to the SGPDA wholesale fish market on Tuesday.
Over 40 vehicles, mostly bringing fish from across the state borders, entered the market since Monday evening.
If sources are to be believed, vehicles bringing fish from the southern states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu arrived at the State’s lone wholesale fish market.
SGPDA Chairman MLA Wilfred D’Sa pointed out that over 40 vehicles brought fish on day one of the reopening. “We have effected changes in the market this time given that local fishermen will come with their catch only around July end or after the commencement of the new fishing season on August 1,” he said.
The opening of the market brought relief to traders who had to sell sold fish on roads and highways due to Covid restrictions.
