Q. Now that it is known that government will not take suo moto cognizance of the names listed by Goencho Avaaz under RP21 beneficiaries, how will you proceed with the matter?
A. We will use all constitutional means to ensure that the will of the nation and lives of the future generations triumph over greed and ignorance.
Q. Merely naming beneficiaries will not help in proving guilt. Will Goencho Avaaz go beyond and get all the details to nail the beneficiaries or is this just going to die down after the initial euphoria?
A. Goencho Avaaz is the voice of Goa and her defenders and voiceless dependents. We are here to defend Goa from land speculation at all costs.
Q. Was the Margao meet a one-off event or is ‘Goencho Avaaz’ planning another meeting to carry forward its movement? If so, when and where is this meeting likely to take place?
A. There is a sudden surge of volunteers from 17 to 72 year olds eager to join the movement and defend the sacred land of Goa. This increase in energy levels will be channelised in a systematic n strategic manner in the days to come. I call these volunteers “YOUNG WARRIORS”. We will do all that is required to defend Goa
Q. Goencho Avaaz has said it has plans to expose other leaders who have benefited from land deals. With politicians now on their guard, is this second list of politicians expected to be revealed and if so, when?
A. The best course of action for these politicians is to immediately scrap RP 2021 and commence preparation of RP 2031 with the active participation of the people. Else, the name of beneficiaries will be released at the appropriate time.
Q. Are you ready to come to the table with TCP Minister Vijai Sardessai and form a team by consensus to investigate into the beneficiaries?
A. No, since he is the biggest culprit in bringing into force RP 2021. He must agree to revoke the 28th March orders first.
Q. Don’t you think that the government, and more specifically the TCP, should be doing the ground work, now that the names are being provided? This against the backdrop that Vijai had said that he is ready to reverse all illegalities? A. RP 2021 settlements and industrial zones cannot be implemented. Any town planner who implements the illegal orders against Goa’s interests will be taken to task
Q. Do you see any light at the end of the tunnel? What according to you are the chances of government scrapping the RP21? Is this agitation strong enough like the one during the Congress regime which compelled the government to scrap the Regional Plan then?
A. Till now the govt has seen only the top layer of people’s anger. The ground support building up on a daily basis may decimate the decision makers. We believe that truth and the future generations will triumph only if we all unite for them.
Q. The momentum which the agitation had got after the Margao meet seems to be dying down. Public memory is short and very soon there is every likelihood that everything could be forgotten. How will you plan to keep the intensity?
A. The movement is growing rapidly. The increasing anger among the people can spin out of control. It will be prudent for the govt to come out of it’s false comfort zone and act fast.
