AAP’s Delhi MLA and Vice Chairman of the Delhi Jal Board Raghav Chadha arrived in the State on Tuesday for a debate with Power Minister Nilesh Cabral, shortly after Cabral had challenged Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s model of electricity.
Speaking to reporters at Dabolim Airport, Chadha said he had specially arrived from New Delhi for a debate with Cabral and threatened to expose BJP if Cabral chickened out and the debate did not take place.
“I have come from Delhi to Goa for a special debate after Goa’s Power Minister Nilesh Cabral had challenged the AAP Delhi Power model and invited a AAP representative for a debate.”
“Cabral had challenged me saying that the AAP electricity model was not good and invited me for a debate. He had even gone to the extent of saying he would bear the expenses of travel, boarding and lodging for anyone willing to travel from Delhi.”
“But I have come at my own expense and I only want the debate to happen in the interest of democracy and the people of Goa,” said Chadha.
“I had informed Cabral that I would land in Goa today for the public debate with him as an AAP MLA and part of the Delhi government. But he is running away from the debate and chickening out.”
Chadha insisted that if the debate took place, people would understand the merits and demerits of both the power models.
“The BJP High Command has reprimanded the Goan BJP leadership to not indulge in any public debate. Cabral should not shy away now and not make excuses. He can speak on the BJP model of electricity while I will debate on the AAP electricity model.”
“The truth is, Cabral has been reprimanded by the BJP High Command and if he cannot engage in a debate in public interest, how can the BJP fearlessly offer governance for the benefit and interest of Goans?”
“It is about Goans and their right to get free electricity and interrupted power 24x7. I hope that the public debate happens and people can then decide what they want,” said Chadha.
