Will fight to protect people’s rights: Yuri

MARGAO

Young Congress Cuncolim MLA-elect Yuri Alemao has reassured the people from the Land of Revolutionaries that he would keep no stone unturned to fight for their rights both within and outside the Legislative Assembly.

Addressing scores of supporters in the Cuncolim Municipal area after an impressive victory rally on Sunday evening, Yuri said he and his family will always remain indebted to the people of the Cuncolim constituency for their love and support extended to him in the just-concluded election.

“The people of Cuncolim have created history by electing me with almost 10,000 votes. We will always remain indebted to you for your love and support”, Yuri said, adding that he looks forward to the same love and support to usher in the development of the constituency.

Saluting the people of the Cuncolim constituency for ensuring there’s no split in the vote, which would have benefited the BJP, Yuri said people have shown they are truly with the Congress and former minister Joaquim Alemao.

“The Congress party is in the opposition today. But, our action starts from today. I will come door-to-door to fulfil their promises”, he said, while reassuring that he would fight in the assembly to protect the rights of the people.

He added: “This is a constituency of revolutionaries. We need your support too to take the constituency forward. People have given me an overwhelming victory with a lead in 35 booths. So many politicians spoke against us. I have nothing against them. I only hope all these people support us to usher in the development of the constituency. Let us take Cuncolim village forward to bring about development”.
