Will initiate action if activity not stopped: CMC

Confirming that the Canacona Municipal Council (CMC) has not given permission to undertake the construction in question, CMC Chairperson Naikgaunkar said the image of the entire community would get tarnished on account of actions by a few.

Speaking to reporters, Naikgaunkar said the Devasthan committee was exceeding its limits by carrying out activities on land in peaceful possession of the Sevekaris.

“What is the use if the committee is trying to snatch away the land given to Sevekaris by our ancestors? Moreover, the CMC has not given any permission nor authorised anybody to construct or build anything in the property. The CMC will be bound to initiate action if the activity is not stopped,” said Naikgaunkar.
