Will scrap Down Town scheme if Cong comes to power: Lobo

MAPUSA
Former Mapusa MLA Michael Lobo has said the Congress would scrap the Mapusa City Down Town scheme if it came to power in the State.

He was speaking to reporters after accompanying Sudhir Kandolkar, the Congress candidate for Mapusa constituency, who began his campaign for the upcoming elections by visiting the Bodgeshwar temple on Thursday.

North Goa District Congress President Vijay Bhike, Block President and Councillor Shashank Narvekar, Nutan Bicholkar, Kamad D’Souza, Anvi Korgaonkar and others were also present.

“The government’s Mapusa City Down Town scheme is being opposed by locals. The Congress will scrap the proposed plan if elected to power in the State,” said Lobo.

He claimed that Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC) funds have been directed towards the temporary bus stand due to upcoming elections.

“The quality of pavers and overall construction is cheap. There will be potholes by the time monsoon arrives. Mapusa MLA Joshua De Souza has failed to develop the city in the last two-and-half years and I appeal to people to give Sudhir Kandolkar one chance to represent Mapusa constituency,” said Lobo.
