Will work for Goa’s progress, PM tweets after meeting Sawant

PANAJI

Pramod Sawant may shed the prefix 'caretaker' from his title soon.

Sawant, in company of State BJP president Sadanand Shet Tanavade, organising secretary Satish Dhond and the party's national general secretary CT Ravi met a host of top BJP leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the party's national president JP Nadda, with finalisation of the State's chief ministership as the top agenda.

In his tweet, after meeting Sawant, Modi said: "Met @DrPramodPSawant and the team of @BJP4Goa. Our party is grateful to the people of Goa for blessing us yet again with the mandate to serve the state. We will keep working for Goa’s progress in the times to come".

Sawant too tweeted about his meeting with the Prime Minister in the national capital.

"Briefed the PM on BJP's resounding success in the Goa Assembly Polls, 2022. The PM conveyed his gratitude to the people of Goa for reposing their trust & faith in BJP and assured his continued support for the development of the State," Sawant said.

The official tweet did not confirm his succession, neither did his brief interaction with a television reporter in the national capital, whose questions about the formalisation of his candidature for chief ministership Sawant religiously parried.

"I met the PM and the national president. I had come to wish them after the results. The decision will be announced after Holi," the chief minister said instead.
