Woman cop died of heart attack, autopsy report reveals

A 35-year-old woman police officer who collapsed on Sunday has been reported to have died of a heart attack, according to the post-mortem findings.

The autopsy report has listed the cause of death as acute myocardial infarction, a medical term commonly referred to as a heart attack.

The deceased, identified as Sarika Naik, was serving as a Lady Assistant Sub-Inspector (LASI) and was attached to the Detention Centre in Mapusa.

A resident of Guirim, she had reportedly complained of giddiness in the early hours of Sunday.

She was rushed to the North Goa District Hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.

Her sudden demise has cast a shadow over the local police fraternity, with colleagues describing her death as tragic and untimely.
