A 25-year-old woman was killed in a hit-and-run accident at Nagoa-Verna on Monday evening.
According to Verna police, the woman, identified as Kalpana Roy, was crossing the road near the Nagoa junction, when a vehicle dashed against her and sped from the scene.
“The woman is a resident of Sonar Wado and a native of Assam. She was working as a domestic maid and was crossing the road when the vehicle dashed against her, leaving her grievously injured. While the vehicle driver sped away, locals shifted her to a hospital with an ambulance, where she was declared dead by doctors,” said the source.
Verna police have registered a case and PSI Sanket Talkar is carrying out further investigation under the supervision of PI Diago Gracias.
