OLD GOA
Two persons were hurt on account of a water-filled pothole which has developed due to road digging for the Smart City project near the junction in Chimbel.
Incidentally, the water pipeline was damaged during the road digging work and the pothole becomes invisible to passers-by, including motorists.
Speaking to The Goan, panch Sandesh Chopdekar said it has been two weeks since the water pipeline was damaged due to road digging for the Smart City project.
“However, till date, the pipeline is not repaired despite my plea to officials of PWD water supply division and the water-filled potholes are proving a threat to motorists and pedestrians alike,” Chopdekar added.
“On Monday night, one person was hurt after his scooter got stuck in the pothole and he was flung on the road. Today, an elderly person passing by fell after he slipped near the pothole when he was trying to avoid a vehicle,” Chopdekar added and decried the attitude of the authorities concerned over their neglect in resolving the issue.
“I spoke to officials of PWD water supply division but they say that since the pipeline was damaged due to the Smart City project, it is their duty to undertake repair work. The pipeline and the potholes should be repaired at the earliest,” Chopdekar stated.
