Anjuna residents argue with PWD officials in the office of Assistant Engineer at Dattawadi, Mapusa on Tuesday.

With elections done and dusted, complaints of irregular water supply have started to trickle in. Fed up with erratic water supply, the residents of Anjuna protested in front of the PWD officials in Mapusa on Tuesday.
The angry locals urged the officials to resolve their water problem within two days or else face bigger agitation in front of the office.
The protesters said the PWD officials should visit the area which is facing acute water shortage and try to find the exact problem.
“It’s not a problem regarding a specific area. The whole village of Anjuna is facing water shortage. At times we have no water to cook and take a bath,” a local said, appearing desperate over the situation.
“Time and again we have raised the issue with the PWD engineer but he just ignores our appeals. Secondly, he never picks up our phone calls,” he added.
Another local informed that the PWD officials monitor the distribution of water supply according to their whims and fancies.
“We get water late in the evenings and the pressure picks up only at mid-night. We are forced to stand in front of the taps to fill water,” he said.
Assistant Engineer, Deepak Borkar informed the protestors that after receiving complaints, two months ago, a choked pipeline in the area was cleared.
He further assured them to visit the area and find a way out to resolve the water shortage issue.
The locals warned the PWD officials to get their act together within two days or face a larger protest in front of the office in Mapusa.
“We gave your’ll a lot of time but now have no patience left. We will give you two days. If you cannot resolve our problem then we will bring the whole village in front of your office,” said Rohan Naik, a local resident.
