Young activists are pillars of   Konkani movement:  Naik

Saying that young activists are the pillars of every social movement, senior Konkani writer, Pundalik Naik has said an activist should always be humble and committed and should be well aware of his duties and responsibilities in the movement.

Naik was addressing the youth Konkani activists on the occasion of inauguration of late Nityanand Naik Memorial activist Camp organized by Konkani Bhasha Mandal, Goa, Ravindra Kelekar Dyanmandir and Savai- Verencho Sakhayahari. This two- day event was held at Shree Anant Temple Hall, Savoi- Verem. Youth activists from all over Goa participated in this camp.

Naik further appreciated the organisers for conducting such much-needed camps and elaborated his experiences and memories of Konkani movement.

Earlier, the guests paid tribute to late Nityananda Naik by offering flowers to his portrait. Anant Agni, the Headmaster of Ravindra Kelekar Dnyanmandir welcomed the guests. The Introductory speech was delivered by Anwesha Singbal, President of Konkani Bhasha Mandal. Brijesh Shet Desai compered the inaugural ceremony while Gaurang Bhandiye proposed the vote of thanks.

Various sessions were conducted during these two days event. The writer and lyricist Purnanand Chari recalled the contribution of late Nityanand Naik in Konkani movement and briefed the participants on the qualities of a selfless activist through his work. The participants introduced themselves and narrated how they got attached to the Konkani movement.

On the second day morning, the participants visited some prominent historical and natural places like the ancestral house of Poet Manoharrai Sardesai and darya deg. Hema Nayak, Mahesh Naik, Mahadev Naik, Prakash Naik, Vitthal Naik, Rajendra Naik and Gautam Naik narrated their memories of Konkani movement in the first session titled ‘Contribution of Savoi- Verem and Volvoi in Konkani Movement’. Anant Agni was the co-ordinator of this session.

The Second session titled ‘Youth and Konkani’ was co-ordinated by Sneha Sabnis. In this session, each participant expressed his ideas about the language movement, their interests and how can they contribute in their individual capacity in Konkani movement.

Anwesha Singbal in her concluding remarks thanked the participants for their active participation and assured them the full support and guidance from the Konkani Bhasha Mandal.
