Young tourist found dead in locked K'taka car on DB Marg

A man, suspected to be dead for a few days, was discovered on Wednesday inside a locked Karnataka-registered car along the DB Marg near the iconic Mandovi Hotel in the capital city.

Panaji police who have registered a case of unnatural death are investigating the matter and have managed to identify him as Srikanth Kanchegar, aged 39 and hailing from Dharwad in Karnataka.

The body has been sent to Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim for an autopsy examination, police said, adding that his family has been informed.

Police are examining footage from nearby CCTV cameras to ascertain whether the man had company or if he was alone when he boarded the car. 

There is suspicion that Kanchegar had come in a group to visit casinos, said a police official who is part of the investigation.
