The police informed that Raut was shifted to the GMC in a 108 ambulance, but the doctors at the casualty declared him dead on arrival.

After conducting the post-mortem, the body was later handed over to the relatives and final rites were performed in the evening. PSI Sagun Sawant is conducting further investigation.

A neighbour informed that Raut, the eldest son in the family, was the lone bread-winning member and was working at an offshore casino in Panaji. He leaves behind his mother, a younger brother and a sister.

The neighbour further informed that Raut’s father had expired around a year back and his death at such a tender age has only further piled misery on the family.
