Demanding fair compensation for the families of three victims of the blast at Zuari Agro Chemicals Limited (ZACL), Sancoale Sarpanch Girish Pillai said industries must take measures to ensure such incidents do not recur in future.
Pillai was speaking to reporters during a function to launch works on drainage, roads and paver work in Zuarinagar.
"We have lost three precious lives in the ZACL blast incident, but fortunately there was no major tragedy of an ammonia leakage in the mishap. I appeal to ZACL to give the families a fair compensation, irrespective of whether the deceased were fixed staff or contract workers because we are all humans.”
“The ZACL must take precautions so that such incidents do not recur in future because people were in great panic of a possible gas leakage after news of the blast," said Pillai.
"The government, ZACL and industries must take measures to ensure such incidents do not recur in future, especially when a big plant like ZACL operates in a densely populated area like Zuarinagar.”
