Stating that work in the State had slowed down due to the former CM’s ill-health, GIDC chairman and Aldona MLA, Glen Ticlo on Wednesday said that things have changed for the better and the new CM has picked up the ropes to rejuvenate the administration in the State.
“Since former CM was not well, work had slowed down. The administration was a bit slow. But Pramod Sawant is very dynamic and has picked up very well. He has asked us to prioritize our works and assured to take up whatever developmental works can be done in this budget and the balance works will be completed in the next budget,” Ticlo said.
The Aldona MLA was addressing a gathering after inaugurating a gymnasium and children’s park at Quitla, Aldona.
Mayem MLA Pravin Zantye, Mapusa MLA Joshua D’Souza, Aldona sarpanch Francis D’Souza and other panchayat members were also present.
Continuing, Ticlo said this year the rains had battered most of the roads in the State but Aldona remained unaffected.
“Our constituency is much better as far as the roads are concerned. There are issues with power here and we have taken up the matter with the CM and power minister who have assured to look into it,” he said.
According to the MLA other things could wait but electricity, water and roads were very important for people.
The gymnasium has been constructed by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs and Sports Authority of Goa at a cost of Rs 45.50 lakh while children’s park has been constructed under MPLADS funds.
Speaking on the occasion, Mapusa MLA Joshua D’Souza stressed on the importance of engaging in outdoor activities and urged parents to encourage their children to participate in outdoor events.
“I am happy to say I came from an era before the advent of the digital age. We still were able to play sports and engage in outdoor activities. But today’s youth are so much hooked to digital platforms where all they think about is video games,” D’Souza said.
He said it’s the responsibility of family members and the society to encourage kids to engage in outdoor activities.
