The Congress on Saturday raised strong concerns that those involved in the Investment Promotion Board (IPB) meeting on Wednesday were lying over Parrikar’s participation in the meeting via video-conference.
Addressing media persons at the Congress headquarters, spokesperson Amarnath Panjikar pointed out that even though it had been reported that Parrikar had been a part of the meeting via video-conference, none of the press had actually seen this, and that in all likelihood, this was a lie that was being passed around to fool everyone.
“It’s funny that they say the CM was a part of the IPB meet, when no-one was allowed to take so much as one picture of him since his return. We’re sure that the CM didn’t participate in the meeting. If he did, then the IPB needs to show everyone the pictures,” said Panjikar.
Panjikar further stated
that the illusion that Parrikar had participated had to be passed round, for without the participation of the chairman of the IPB (Parrikar), the meeting was not allowed to take place.
Panjikar also pointed to the fact that eight projects, amounting to hundreds of crores of rupees had been passed at the IPB, which he alleged was done without Parrikar’s consent, even though they used his name.
“The government is just using Manohar Parrikar, and his family needs to wake up to this fact,” urged Panjikar, while stressing that everyone in the state was now well aware that Parrikar was bed-ridden.
The Congress also went on to allege that at the IPB meet, all the officers that needed to have been there, were not there, and procedures were not followed properly.
It will be remembered that a top official who had attended the IPB meet on October 17 had informed that the meeting was chaired by Parrikar through video-conferencing.
Parrikar is currently ailing at his Dona Paula residence, and no one has been allowed to meet him. The official had not made it clear whether Parrikar had made any significant contributions to the meeting or not.
