35 years on, Ranes have failed to give water to Sattari people: AAP

PANAJI
Aam Aadmi Party on Saturday handed over taps to the Public Works Department to protest against failure of the government to provide tap water for people from Sattari taluka.

AAP leader Vishwesh Prabhu-led residents of Bydruk Karmali Manik wada who also met the Sattari deputy collector, lamented that for 35 years now people are not receiving piped water even though the place has been represented by the Ranes of the Congress and now of BJP.

“What is the point of having taps in the houses when there is no water in the pipes and that is why we returned the taps,” said Vishwesh.

He pointed out that the area does not appear to be part of Goa as most people till date do not have toilets and defecate in open. There are no street lights and people live in darkness,” he said adding that even roads are literally non-existent.

He also pointed out that people have to trudge miles for water as the only well in the village has not been cleaned for years making its water unusable.

Vishwesh said copies of the memorandum would be submitted to the Chief Minister and Governor.
