BICHOLIM: After three of her family members were rescued when a large tree came crashing down on their car in Bicholim, a woman was finally rescued in joint efforts by firefighters, police, and locals after about five hours in the early hours of Monday.
Five members were initially in the car when they stopped by a roadside Ros Omlette cart in Bicholim town. One of them alighted from the car when a large tree came crashing down on the car. The Ros Omlette vendor had a narrow escape as he stepped aside to avoid the falling tree.
Firefighters managed to rescue three members of the family, but the woman was trapped in the car.
Locals provided her with water and reassured her that she would be rescued. After five hours of joint efforts, the woman was finally pulled out of the mangled vehicle at about 1:40 am and was moved to the GMC hospital for treatment.
