VALPOI
Barely days after students from Surla were found struggling to avail net connectivity by even going into densely forested areas to get coverage, students from other villages in Sattari also complained of poor network and marched to the BSNL office in Valpoi on Tuesday.
Over 30 students from three villages of Darode, Kodal and Satre in Nagargao panchayat were seen at the Valpoi BSNL office from 9 am to 5 pm to complain about poor network coverage. They warned if the connectivity did not improve within the next two days, they would stage a protest.
According to the students, while BSNL network is available, internet connectivity has been almost non-existent, making it difficult for them to pursue online classes.
“Due to poor connectivity in the three villages, we have been forced to travel to Valpoi for online classes. Satre village is about 18 kms from Valpoi town but we have no option,” complained a student, Krishna Dhuri.
The students claimed that BSNL had sanctioned a tower for the three villages last year, but the tower was not erected.
“We have been repeatedly requesting for a BSNL tower in our area, but our requests have been ignored,” lamented another student, Chaya Gawas.
