OLD GOA
Chimbel panchayat authorities finally conducted an inspection of the residential bungalow, following complaints from a local, Rohit Kamat, that it was being run as a lodge.Kamat said the lodge was being run without any permission from the authorities concerned and late-night parties with loud music are held, thereby disturbing the residents in the locality.
“I had complained to the police umpteen times but they just come, stop the music and then the parties continue. Therefore, I complained to the Chimbel panchayat due to which the inspection is being done today,” he added.
Sarpanch Sandesh Chopdekar said that such activity cannot be allowed in a residential area which creates a nuisance for the locals.
When questioned whether there is any permission for the same, Chopdekar replied in the negative, but said that an application has been received by the panchayat for permission to run a lodge.
“But, we have already decided not to issue permission for the lodge,” Shirodkar stated and informed that further action would be initiated as per the law.
