In a relief to Goa's hospitality and other economic sectors, the model code of conduct (MCC) was on Saturday lifted by the Election Commission of India with the completion of the Goa legislative assembly election process.

ECI issued the order withdrawing the MCC from Goa besides Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Manipur and Uttarakhand.

The MCC was imposed in Goa from the day the ECI had announced the schedule of the elections on January 8.

Meanwhile, hours after the ECI order lifting the MCC was issued, the Director General of Police Indra Dev Shukla, IPS, has transferred 42 police personnel.

The order issued by Superintendent of Police (headquarters) has effected the transfer of five police sub-inspectors, including one lady PSI Prajoti Desai.

The other transfers involve two assistant sub-inspectors including one lady ASI Anna Fernandes and 33 personnel from the constabulary.

Several of these transferred police personnel had been shifted at the start of the election process to adhere to the norm of shifting them out of their home district.
