Didn’t abuse MLA, only argued on development issue: Agassaim Sarpanch

PANAJI

Agassaim Sarpanch Xavier Gracias on Saturday clarified that he had not threatened St Andre MLA Viresh Borkar but had only argued with him over a development issue.

"They (Viresh Borkar and his supporters) asked us aggressively and so, we also replied aggressively. We have not threatened him," said Gracias.

"I am a senior member of the panchayat and know how to respect people", he added.

St Andre MLA Viresh Borkar had accused Benny Silveira, brother of former MLA Francisco Silveira, Sarpanch Xavier Gracias and others of criminal intimidation and threat.

Borkar later filed a complaint of unlawful assembly against 30 supporters of the former MLA before the Agassaim police station.

Alleging that the complaint against them is frivolous, Gracias challenged MLA Viresh Borkar to come out with videos which were taken by his supporters when the incident took place.
