After being directed to stop operating the dialysis unit at the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Canacona, Dr R Venkatesh handed over the list of dialysis patients served by him to the Director of Health Services (DHS) and sought 10 days to move out the machinery/equipment and vacate the unit at Canacona.
A health team from the DHS led by Director (ADM) Shripad Arlekar and consisting of Dy Director (Public Health) Dr Rupa Naik and three DHS officials visited the CHC on Thursday to take over the Dialysis Unit from Dr Venkatesh.
The team, however, found, the unit locked and left the venue post lunchtime after expecting the arrival of Dr Venkatesh to hand over the unit.
Incidentally, after the DHS team left the venue, Dr Venkatesh arrived at the CHC at about 3.30 pm and handed over a list of 28 dialysis patients served by Dr Venkatesh at his Canacona Dialysis Unit operated in the CHC to Canacona Health Officer Dr Amonkar.
Incidentally, Dr Amonkar is also one of the DHS team members to take over the charge of Dialysis Unit from Dr Venkatesh.
Dr Amonkar confirmed the development and further informed everything is normal and no patients availing dialysis care at Canacona would be inconvenienced.
“The DHS team on their arrival carried out inspection of CHC, particularly in reference to Dialysis care unit and found everything satisfactory. Dr Venkatesh, however, reached later in the evening and submitted a list of 28 dialysis patients served by him, and the detailed patient’s cycle. Eventually, eight patients were provided dialysis care on Thursday and till now 4 have availed dialysis on Friday,” Dr Amonkar told The Goan on Friday afternoon.
“Dr Venkatesh has sought 10 days to hand over the keys of Dialysis unit in CHC, as a lot of machinery and equipment needs to be moved out by him.”
So far, the dialysis patients have been provided care in a separate unit on the first floor of CHC building.
